    \nAlthough ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is a major risk factor, melanoma, the most aggressive type of skin cancer, can also develop in areas of the body that receive little to no sun exposure, such as the soles of the feet, under nails, on the scalp, inside the mouth, and even in the genital area. Genetic predisposition and other factors underscore the importance of regular     self-exams and scheduling annual skin exams<\/span><\/a> with your dermatologist to detect early.<\/li>\n
  2. Your Hairdresser Might Be the First to Spot It<\/b>
    \nHairdressers and barbers are uniquely positioned to notice suspicious lesions on the scalp, neck, and ears – areas that are often difficult for individuals to see themselves. Many cases of skin cancer have been identified thanks to observant stylists encouraging clients to seek medical evaluation. Some programs train hair professionals to help detect skin cancer early and refer clients to dermatologists.     \nIndoor tanning devices emit concentrated UV radiation that significantly increases the risk of developing skin cancer, including melanoma. In fact, starting tanning bed use before age 35 is linked to about     a 75% increased risk of melanoma<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Skin Cancer Can Affect All Skin Tones<\/b>
    \nWhile individuals with fair skin are at higher risk, skin cancer can occur in people of all skin types and tones.
